Agricultural Gals Agro to invest EUR 17mln in construction of biogas plants

Raiffeisen Bank Aval provided EUR 10mln loan for the project

Agricultural Gals Agro raised a loan worth EUR 10mln for its EUR 17mln project on biogas plants in the frames of the financing program of the renewable energy projects. The sugar producer will erect biogas plants in Chernigiv and Kyiv regions. The facility will be channeled for three biogas units with a projected capacity of 6MWt. The recipient company of agro holding will be Gorodysche-Pustovarivska agrarian company. Gals Agro will actively add business blocs of bioenergy and electricity generation to its ordinary business activities, told Sergey Kravchuk the CEO of the agro-holding. Such a move will help the agro holding to realize its business potential and increase return on assets.

Gals Agro will produce biogas from organic wastes from agro products and sugar production in particular, that is sugar-beet pulp, silage of energy plants, and livestock manure. The agro-holding has a long term plans to produce 23.3mln cubic meters of biogas capacitating production of 51.5MWt per hour electricity to be sold at green tariff prices from the government. The company will also use power heat for the purposes of greenhouses and livestock farms. Notably, the first biogas plant will be put into operation in Chernigiv region this year, and the other two in 2018.
