According to AUTO-Consulting data, 89.4 thousand new cars were sold in Ukraine by the efforts of all car operators in 2019. This is 14% higher rate than in 2018. But it should be noted that a number of car traders had significantly higher growth rates. And in December 2019, car dealers recorded a real growth boom at the level of 45%.
2019 was the most successful for the Renault brand. Dealers of the French brand were able to sell 69% more cars in 2019 and firmly ranked 1st in sales in Ukraine.
The second place in sales of new cars was taken by Toyota, whose dealers managed to increase sales by 31%.
Korean Kia was ranked third. Over the year, the Korean brand increased car sales in Ukraine by 58% and climbed 4 positions in the list of car manufacturers.
A fairly high dynamics of sales was also observed for Skoda cars, which managed to increase sales in 2019 by 15%. Nissan and Hyundai maintained their previous sales rates on the Ukrainian market.
The rapid growth in sales of Peugeot cars can be surely called another breakthrough in 2019. At the end of 2019, Peugeot dealers were able not only to enter the TOP-10 of the Ukrainian car market, but also to climb 5 positions at once.
It is worth noting Volkswagen's sales drop by 24%.
BMW won the status of brand No. 1 in the premium segment in 2019. The dealers of these “Bavarians” added 22% in sales. Mitsubishi sales have also grown markedly. The Japanese brand finished with + 11%. Dealers of Citroen, Chery, Land Rover, Fiat and Volvo also increased sales. And considering the optimistic end of 2019, this is far from the limit of growth. There is every reason for the uptrend in car sales in 2020.
The Ukrainian car market entered 2020 with good dynamics of recovery and expectations of further growth. In total, almost 98 thousand cars and light commercial vehicles (weighing up to 3.5 tons) were sold in 2019.
