Project Overview

Drill is a unique mobile application for training in tactical shooting and self-defense. This is a personal trainer that is convenient to train with regardless of the place of stay and time. The app has a full course of exercises, lessons, and tasks, with interactive tools to track your progress and skill development. We help all owners of firearms not to lose their shooting skills.

Brief Market Analysis

Every gun owner, like any athlete, needs constant training in order not to lose their shooting skills. In the modern pace of life, not many people do not have enough time to visit specialized shooting clubs or classes with a coach. At the same time, do not forget about professionals, such as security services, police and military. All of them need daily training so as not to lose the skills on which their lives depend.According to research, 326 million registered firearms are privately owned in the United States alone. But there is not a single universal mobile application that teaches safety, proper handling of weapons and helps to improve shooting skills.

According to Businessstat estimates, in 2020, the global market for private small arms and related fields brought in 8 8.37 billion and will grow by an average of 3.51%. as a trend in recent years, experts note the growing popularity of extreme sports, including Practical Shooting. Thus, a gradual increase in the number of gun owners supports the growth of global sales.the market for private small arms and related fields, including tactical shooting, accessories and applications, is expected to exceed США 38.6 billion by the end of 2030.

Problem

In the world, there are over one billion units of firearms distributed, with 857 million (about 85 percent) in the hands of civilians. In the United States alone, there are 326 million registered firearms in private ownership, and there is no registered application that provides professional and safe training with this type of weapon. Thats why the Drill project was created.

There is a famous quote by renowned pianist Sviatoslav Richter: "If I skip practicing for one day, I notice it; if I skip for two days, the orchestra notices it; if I skip for three days, the audience notices it." The situation with firearms is similar, but your life depends on it. However, due to the fast pace of modern life, COVID and lockdowns, it is challenging to conduct such training in shooting ranges. Thats why we have created an app that allows you to train anywhere, anytime.

Before preparing the content, we conducted focus groups among professionals, athletes, and military personnel in different parts of the world. We conducted surveys with the focus groups and verified market fit. Therefore, we are confident in the practical necessity of our application.

The relevance of the problem and the usefulness and demand for this app are confirmed by 30,000 active users and influential mentors, including the Head of the National Police of Ukraine Marshal, the founder of PSDinfo - Quebec, and the Chief Master Sergeant of the 47th Separate Assault Brigade - "Magura," Valeriy Markus.

Solution

Drill is your personal pocket trainer with which you can train anywhere, anytime. The app features a comprehensive course of exercises, lessons, and tasks, with interactive tools for tracking progress and skill development. We help firearm owners maintain their shooting skills. In short, Driil is something between a fitness and education application.

The uniqueness of our app lies in its user-friendly interface, technical features such as voice-controlled video player, progress tracking, training plan builder, and feedback functionality from trainers, as well as unique proprietary content based not just on theoretical knowledge, but on practical experience of real-world firearm use in both sport and combat scenarios, from top instructors with experience in combat operations in the largest conflict after World War II. We also hold patents for training schemes and instructional designs.

Project development

We have a registered trademark and IP rights. We have applied for the patenting of educational schemes in America and are registering the company in Delaware (USA).

Drill offers two full courses, lasting up to three hours each, for "dry" pistol and rifle training. Additionally, there are standalone lessons of 20-40 minutes each, totaling 10 lessons currently available. These lessons cover the sequence of rifle charging, grip formation, and proper body positioning during shooting. There are also 50 "drills," which are short practical exercises designed to reinforce skills. The app also includes video recording of the training sessions for review by Drill team coaches to identify and correct mistakes. In the future, we will add computer vision technology that automatically detects incorrect shooter movements.

Among Drills notable achievements are winning the "Lift Innovations" pitching competition organized by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Fund, as well as winning the startup competition at the Western Partnership Forum by Lviv IT Cluster. The team has successfully completed incubation programs in accelerators and continues to participate in initiatives by the Fund. Currently, the team consists of 12 permanent employees.

Business model

When we initially released the beta version, there was an option to subscribe, which was more like a donation to support the project since the functionality was limited. However, people started subscribing actively, and we made our first $150, after which we decided to disable this feature and make Drill free for Ukraine until the end of the war. We plan to monetize in Poland through subscription payments for premium content and feedback purchases. Basic training will remain free to access, and we will build and maintain our audience on that.

Premium content refers to exclusive training sessions. If the subscription costs, lets say, $5, its actually quite affordable considering that one bullet costs $1-1.5, and you would need to fire 100-150 bullets during a training session. And if you consider the cost of hiring a trainer, it can be around $300-500, so our app allows users to save on that.
