According to a statement from Avtomagistral-Pivden, the contract covers the construction of the first 33.7-kilometer section of the Arad–Oradea motorway, part of the strategic European Via Carpathia corridor linking the Baltic, Black, and Mediterranean seas.
The project will be implemented over a 24-month period and includes the development of 32 infrastructure units, such as bridges, overpasses, and interchanges. The most prominent structure will be a 727-meter-long overpass crossing a railway. The section will also feature parking areas equipped with EV charging stations.
This marks the first signed contract for the Oradea–Arad motorway, which will span a total of 120.5 kilometers. The consortium won the tender for the initial section in February 2025.
Mykola Tymofeev, CEO of Avtomagistral-Pivden, described the event as historic, noting that Ukraine is delivering high-tech services rather than raw materials — a shift that contributes to foreign currency earnings and reduces dependence on commodity exports.
The company's entry into the Romanian market is expected to strengthen economic integration between the two countries, drive demand for Ukrainian construction materials, and open new opportunities for other domestic industry players, according to the company’s management.
