Bayer's CEO Oliver Gierlichs said: “We are investing $60 million in our seed plant in the Zhytomyr region. We have completed the first phase of the plant, which cost about $35 million. This included, in particular, the installation of a dryer. Construction of the second phase has already begun, which includes the installation of additional equipment for the production of green energy. 98% of the energy consumed by the plant will be green. There will be no natural gas. The equipment has already been ordered, is being produced and will be ready very soon.”
The company is also investing in the construction of two long-term storage facilities, the first is already under construction.
Thanks to the second stage of the plant, the corn receiving capacity will be increased; Bayer is now purchasing additional equipment.
Oliver Gierlichs added that the company now continues to export seeds and increases volumes. He noted that the company has no problems with space for the production of seed corn, because it has established work with reliable partners.
