Metro Cash & Carry Ukraine reveals interest in buying meat and dairy business

The plans relate to private label project for the retailer

METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine is ready to invest in the local production facility of meat and dairy products. In this way, the company plans to increase its market share.

The company is interested in investing in those segments of the food market, where it is possible to increase market share - a dairy and meat products, said Adrian Ariciu, the commercial director of Metro C & C Ukraine. The retailer is considering options for the purchase of local companies whose products will be produced specifically for Metro C&C.

Adrian Ariciu added that Metro C&C is ready to buy or lease a business for the long-term. The retailer is interested in fresh foods and also non-food products.

42% of food products in Metro C&C are made in Ukraine, but this is not enough, according the company's representative. The structure of imports has changed drastically for the previous several years. Russian food products are becoming void and expensive Italian products were substituted by Polish producers. Metro C&C has 23 trading centers in major cities of Ukraine.
