In Ukraine, the renewable energy projects absorbed EUR 210mln of investments in 79 facilities with the projected capacity amounting to 182.7meggawatts (MW). According to the analytical report of the IB Center expert group, 67 new solar power plants were built in the reporting period. The capacities of wind farms increased by 5% year-to-date to 458.7MW in H1/2017, pursuant to the data revealed by Ukrainian Wind Power Association. To note, the power capacities of small hydro power plants and biomass power plants amount to 120MW and 33MW respectively, as of end H1/2017. It is expected that the renewable energy projects will enlarge by 430MW to 1.9GW in Ukraine by the end of the year, according to IB Center report. Thus, the renewables will account to 4.3% of the total energy mix in Ukraine. To remind, Ukraine took obligation to increase power capacities of renewable energy projects to reach 10% of its energy mix balance until 2020, according to Paris climate agreement.
