Swedish investment company Varangians has invested in two Ukrainian defense technology (DefTech) startups and is exploring further investment opportunities in Ukraine. The names of the companies and the exact investment amounts have not been publicly disclosed.
According to AIN, one of the investments exceeds €500,000, while the second deal is valued at less than €500,000. Varangians is thus directing capital toward Ukrainian defense technology developments, although details of the projects and transaction terms have not yet been disclosed.
Foreign investor interest in Ukraine’s DefTech sector is driven by the development of technologies in demand during the full-scale war, as well as the practical experience Ukrainian developers have gained in creating and deploying such solutions. For startups, foreign capital can provide funding for further research and development, production expansion, and entry into international markets.
Varangians is also preparing additional deals, indicating continued investment activity in Ukraine’s defense technology sector. However, the company has not yet disclosed which startups may receive the next investments or which areas of defense technology the new funding will target.
