Swiss investment bank ResponsAbility Participations AG to buy 40% stake in domestic Bank Lviv

The current owner of the Bank Lviv is an investor from Iceland

Bank Lviv has submitted the necessary documentation to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) for endorsement of the participation of a new strategic shareholder of the bank, that is, Swiss asset management ResponsAbility Participations AG. The new investor will acquire a non-controlling stake of 40% in the bank.

As of present, Margeir Petursson, the famous chess player from Iceland, owns 99% shares of Bank Lviv. Bank Lviv is the best bank that understands financial needs of customers in the Western Ukraine, believes Margeir Petursson. In this situation, practical experience from Switzerland can improve the effectiveness of a strong and reliable regional bank for small and medium-sized businesses and individuals.

The bank will target SMEs’ owners mainly in Western Ukraine.

Bank Lviv has been operating since 1990. As of the end of 2016, the bank’s assets stood at USD 54mln. The bank has 24 offices employing 270 people.

Margeir Petursson bought Bank Lviv in 2006.

ResponsAbility Participations AG is a leading asset management company. The company makes investments in the emerging markets both with own and the borrowed funds.
