Switzerland to Allocate €5 Billion for Ukraine’s Recovery

Switzerland Commits €5.27 Billion in Long-Term Assistance for Ukraine’s Reconstruction

Switzerland will provide €5.27 billion over the coming years to support Ukraine’s recovery, according to a statement from the Office of the President of Ukraine following President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s meeting in Kyiv with Maya Riniker, President of the National Council of the Swiss Parliament.

President Zelenskyi expressed gratitude for the substantial financial assistance and highlighted the potential for joint implementation of numerous humanitarian initiatives between the two countries supported by these funds.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed:

  • The need to strengthen sanctions pressure on Russia, including halting the supply of critical technological components used in the production of drones and missiles;
  • The issue of returning Ukrainian children who were illegally deported to Russia.

Switzerland is currently considering joining the International Coalition and supporting the Bring Kids Back UA initiative. According to the Office of the President, approximately 1,500 children have already been returned under the program.

Additionally, in May, Switzerland and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding for the financing of Ukraine’s €6.4 million contribution toward an additional share subscription in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
