Telecommunications lifecell wins 4G highest-priced lot paying UAH 602mln (USD 23mln)

Ukrainian State Center of Radio Frequencies conducted tender for licenses of 2600Mhz bands among the three (Kyivstar, Vodafone, and lifecell) telecommunications majors

According to the Ukrainian State Center of Radio Frequencies, telecommunications lifecell won tender for the highest-priced 4G license lot of UAH 572mln raising bid to UAH 602mln. At this, lifecell also took over the second expensive lot of UAH 293mln increasing it to UAH 308mln.

Kyivstar bought the next two lots for the starting price of UAH 293mln, and the fifth 4G license lot it bought for UAH 330 raising a price from UAH 286.

Vodafone acquired the last lot worth UAH 286mln accepting the increasing price at UAH 345mln.

All the licenses put out for tender will be valid for 15 years. The companies have to remit money not later than a month after winning in the tendering procedure. The government will receive UAH 2.45bn from the tender.

To note, 2600Mhz bands are not strategic for telecommunications businesses compared to LTE bands of 1800Mhz. The National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization will sell LTE bands of 1800Mhz by tender in March.
