Ukraine to receive $800 million from US for its energy sector

The United States is providing Ukraine with an $800 million financing package for the energy sector, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko said.

First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyridenko announced that the United States will allocate $800 million to the restoration of the Ukrainian energy industry.

The Minister of Economy added that the Cabinet of Ministers has provided the US with a list of critical equipment needed for immediate repair.

The minister also said that during her visit to the USA, energy was one of the key topics for discussion. Together with the Deputy Secretary of Energy of the United States, David Turk, they discussed the immediate steps necessary to restore Ukraine's energy system.

According to Yulia Svyridenko, more than 50% of Ukrainian energy infrastructure was damaged by Russian attacks.

It is clarified that $800 million from the USA is part of the funds announced at the Berlin Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which are being distributed.
