Ukraine to receive US$700 million grant from World Bank to support farmers

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the World Bank have signed a grant agreement under the ARISE project, which is providing Ukraine with US$700 million to support agriculture.

It has been reported that the documents were signed by Minister of Agricultural Policy Mykola Solskyi, and Gevorg Sargsyan, World Bank Country Manager for Ukraine.

The ministry says that the funds will be used to implement two components of the ARISE project:

  • financial support for the Affordable Loans at 5-7-9% programme for agricultural production and food processing;
  • grant aid to small agricultural producers, namely land users and those specialising in cattle, goats or sheep farming.

The implementation of the ARISE project is planned for 2023 and 2024.
