Ukrainian company AeroMotors, which specializes in developing and manufacturing electric motors for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), has expanded its production capacity to 60,000 motors per month following a $550,000 investment from Swedish investment firm Front Ventures.
The funding was used, in part, to scale up manufacturing operations. AeroMotors previously produced approximately 10,000 electric motors per month, and the investment enabled the company to significantly increase its output.
AeroMotors is part of the ecosystem of Brave1, Ukraine’s defense technology cluster. The company develops, manufactures and independently tests electric motors for UAVs. Its product range includes motors designed for drone platforms ranging from 7 to 32 inches, from FPV drones to heavier unmanned aerial systems.
The investment was made by Sweden’s Front Ventures, which acquired a 5.5% stake in AeroMotors. The transaction valued the Ukrainian manufacturer at approximately $10 million. The investor also planned to support AeroMotors’ further expansion and the establishment of production lines in Europe.
AeroMotors had previously secured funding from MITS Capital, an international investment firm supporting defense technology development, with assistance from Brave1.
AeroMotors’ production expansion comes amid the development of Ukraine’s domestic market for unmanned systems components. According to Brave1, investments in Ukrainian component manufacturers remain relatively uncommon but could help attract additional venture capital investors to Ukraine’s defense technology sector.
