Ukrainian company Frontline Robotics has announced the launch of a joint drone manufacturing project in Germany in partnership with German firm Quantum Systems. The partners are establishing the first Ukrainian-German defense enterprise, Quantum Frontline Industries, which will serve as a new facility for the serial production of drones for Ukraine’s Defense Forces. The project launch was announced on December 15. The initiative is being implemented under the state program Build with Ukraine, aimed at fostering international industrial cooperation in the defense sector.
A key element of the project will be the launch in Germany of Europe’s first fully automated industrial production line for drones. This line will mass-produce the “Zoom” and “Lens” models developed by Frontline Robotics engineers and already used by Ukrainian military units. All robotic systems will be manufactured in Germany and subsequently supplied to Ukraine’s Defense Forces in volumes to be determined by the Ministry of Defense.
Beyond its technological dimension, the project also has a social component: it предусматриває the creation of jobs for Ukrainian citizens in Germany, which is particularly important amid the ongoing war and the migration of Ukrainians abroad.
The division of roles between the partners is clearly defined. Quantum Systems will be responsible for industrial infrastructure, organization of the production process, and administrative support of the enterprise. Frontline Robotics will provide production licenses for its proprietary designs and will oversee personnel training, technology transfer, and technical instruction.
Frontline Robotics CEO Yevhenii Tretiak emphasized that the launch of the joint venture is a strategically important step that could serve as a model for future international defense projects. According to him, the new facility will be capable of supplying Ukraine’s Defense Forces with thousands of drones, which is critical in modern warfare.
Sven Kruk, Co-CEO of Quantum Systems, noted that Ukrainian experience in drone warfare has already significantly reshaped the nature of modern combat. The partnership with Frontline Robotics, he said, allows for a rethinking of defense industrial production itself, elevating it to a new, pan-European level.
Frontline Robotics also explained that strong frontline demand for its drones requires rapid and large-scale expansion of serial production. Locating manufacturing capacity in Germany enables this expansion in safer conditions while simultaneously strengthening the combat capabilities of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
The new Quantum Frontline Industries enterprise will focus on three core areas: scaling production, expanding the product portfolio, and developing new technological solutions. These solutions will combine German engineering expertise with Ukrainian military innovations, creating a unique competitive advantage, according to Quantum Systems Executive Director Matthias Len.
Quantum Systems is a European company specializing in unmanned systems. It supplies military, government, and commercial customers with ISR systems, autonomous platforms, and integrated mission solutions that combine hardware, artificial intelligence, and interoperable software.
Frontline Robotics is a Ukrainian defense-technology company founded in August 2023. Its founders have been developing technologies for Ukraine’s Armed Forces since 2014, with solutions that have undergone combat testing. Today, the company develops aerial and ground robotic systems, including the “Zoom” reconnaissance UAV, the “Lens” bomber drone, and the “Burya” robotic turret.
