The USD 400mln of the repatriated dividends were in line with the expectations of the currency board. To remind, NBU lifted a ban on repatriation of dividends from June until September 14 this year on funds earned during 2014-2015 with the purpose of improving investment climate.
The transfer of dividends abroad could be made by a dividend payer or by an international investor. In each calendar month till September 14, a payer (or investor) could repatriate no more than USD 5mln if the total amount of dividends subject to repatriation was more than USD 50mln. The monthly limit was 10% of total dividends in the amount of USD 10-50mln, and USD 1mln if total dividends were less than USD 10 mln.
