The Ministry for Communities Development confirmed that funds have already been reserved for the project, which aims to establish an integrated medical facility for providing urgent care. According to First Deputy Mayor Svitlana Olshanska, the project is currently in the planning phase, with implementation expected over the next 7–8 years.
The concept note for the hospital was approved by the Zhytomyr Executive Committee in 2024. The initiative includes the deployment of modern medical equipment, expansion of services, improved treatment quality, and more efficient use of financial and spatial resources.
The project is listed on the DREAM platform as a priority medical infrastructure initiative.
Key objectives of the hospital project include:
- Ensuring rapid access to emergency care and reducing response and service times;
- Delivering high-quality treatment using modern equipment, skilled personnel, and efficient medical protocols;
- Expanding the range of services to meet the needs of various population groups;
- Creating optimal conditions for medical services in terms of location, resource efficiency, and reduced waiting times;
- Ensuring rational use of public and donor funds and achieving long-term operational sustainability;
- Building a comfortable environment for patients and medical staff to improve satisfaction with healthcare services.
This is not the first instance of international support for the city: at URC2025, Lithuania also confirmed funding of €17 million for the construction of a new school hub in Zhytomyr.
