A wind power plant with an installed capacity of 57 MW is planned to be built in Zhytomyr region near Berdychiv. The project provides for the development of a wind farm consisting of 10 wind turbines.
The initiative was announced in the southern part of the region and involves the development of new electricity generation capacity from renewable sources. The project is viewed as part of the expansion of green energy in Ukraine and an increase in the share of wind generation in the country’s energy mix.
According to preliminary parameters, the 10 turbines will together provide the plant’s total capacity of 57 MW. In the future, this will allow the wind farm to generate electricity to meet the needs of household and industrial consumers in the region, as well as partially ease the load on the existing power system.
The implementation of the project in southern Zhytomyr region reflects the broader trend of developing distributed generation and strengthening the energy independence of Ukraine’s regions, particularly amid the high pressure on the country’s energy system in recent years.
Wind power plants remain one of the key areas of investment in the country’s renewable energy sector, alongside solar projects and energy storage systems. The development of such facilities is expected to help improve the resilience of the power system and diversify sources of generation.
The timeline for the start of construction and the amount of investment in the project have not yet been officially disclosed.
