The defense technology company founded by former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov is launching the “Army of Robots” project — an ecosystem designed to develop and scale robotic solutions for the military. The company is seeking Ukrainian defense tech teams, engineers, and a technical lead for the initiative.
Fedorov announced the launch of the “Army of Robots” on September 26. The project is intended to bring together defense technology manufacturers, engineers, and investment capital to develop and deploy robotic systems.
The project plans to develop technologies for a range of battlefield applications. Potential areas include casualty evacuation, ammunition delivery, mine laying and demining, reconnaissance, position defense, and target engagement.
At the same time, the “Army of Robots” will not operate as a standalone company. Fedorov describes it as an ecosystem through which the team plans to invest in defense tech companies, launch technology projects, establish R&D programs, and test new solutions jointly with the military.
The project team is currently seeking Ukrainian companies and engineers working on robotic technologies. In particular, it is recruiting a CTO or Tech Lead who will be responsible for the technical direction of the “Army of Robots.”
According to Fedorov, greater use of robotics should reduce the involvement of military personnel in the most dangerous missions. The concept envisages robotic systems being deployed first in areas where operations currently involve direct risks to soldiers’ lives.
Fedorov compares the new initiative with Ukraine’s “Army of Drones,” launched in 2022. According to him, drones now account for more than 95% of target engagements, while more than 700 UAV manufacturers are operating in Ukraine. He sees the scaling of robotic systems as the next stage in the development of military technologies.
Fedorov is also continuing work on the AIR. LAND. ECONOMY concept of technology-driven warfare, now from the private sector. In early September, it was reported that the former defense minister was launching his own defense technology company. Alex Karp, CEO of U.S. technology company Palantir, is expected to become the company’s first lead investor.
Mykhailo Fedorov headed Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation from 2019 to 2026 and then served as defense minister for approximately six months. He left the post in July 2026 following changes in the composition of the government.
