The European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have agreed to loan an additional 100 million euros to Ukraine for swift recovery of Ukraine, for instance, for the repair of municipal or energy infrastructure.
It is noted that the funds are to be provided under the guarantee of the European Union.
This EU guarantee is one of the components of the EU's initiative for Ukraine (EU4U), which the bank approved in March 2023 and which also includes the EU4Ukraine fund and a technical assistance and consultancy package worth 100 million euros from the EIB's own funds.
"In addition to our EUR 1 billion for fast recovery to support critical sectors, the agreed EU guarantee allows EIB to lend to Ukraine an additional EUR 100 million on very favourable terms," stated European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
