Oschadbank has secured a new €50 million tranche from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development under the guarantee facility of the EBRD’s Energy Security and Sustainability Facility (ESSF). The agreement on the second tranche was signed by the two banks, according to Oschadbank’s press service.

The funding will enable Oschadbank to continue financing projects related to energy generation and energy efficiency improvements in Ukraine.

The ESSF financial instrument provides partial EBRD risk coverage for Oschadbank’s investment loans, with the guarantee covering exactly 50% of each eligible loan amount. The program is supported financially by the European Union, France and the Netherlands, and is primarily aimed at providing Ukrainian businesses, local communities and other bank clients with access to financing for projects designed to strengthen the country’s energy resilience.

The partnership began on February 12, 2025, when the parties signed an agreement on Oschadbank’s participation in the ESSF program. The first tranche under the initiative has already been successfully deployed to finance energy projects.

The ESSF program is generally focused on supporting investment in Ukrainian energy generation and energy efficiency through a credit risk-sharing mechanism between the EBRD and partner banks, enabling participating financial institutions to significantly expand financing for projects that are critical to energy stability.
