Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe has officially completed the acquisition of ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) Roman in Romania, effective March 31, 2026. The move is part of the company’s strategy to expand its presence in Europe and strengthen its position in key regional markets.

AMTP Roman is known as a major producer of seamless steel pipes, supplying customers across Europe and beyond. The plant specializes in pipes with diameters ranging from 168.3 mm to 406.4 mm, which are used in energy, construction, and industrial applications, as well as for onshore and offshore pipeline projects. It also produces casing pipes for oil and gas extraction. Founded in 1951, the plant is one of Romania’s leading manufacturing platforms in this segment.

The acquisition of the Romanian plant provides Interpipe with several key advantages. First, it expands the company’s presence in Europe: the Roman plant becomes Interpipe’s first production platform in the European Union and internationally. This strengthens the company’s local manufacturing base in the EU and increases supply chain resilience, providing customers with a more diversified and reliable supply network.

Second, operational synergies are expected: the integration of Interpipe’s technological expertise and vertically integrated steel production with the established processes of the Romanian plant is expected to improve manufacturing efficiency, optimize processes, and enhance overall product quality.

Third, the deal strengthens customer relationships: customers of the Roman plant will be able to rely on continuity of service, the support of Interpipe’s global network, technical expertise, and a customer-focused approach. Luca Zanotti, CEO of Interpipe’s pipe and railway products business, emphasized that the plant in Roman is a perfect complement to the company’s existing vertically integrated operations in Ukraine, enhancing both geographic diversification and technological integration.

All standard closing conditions, including the receipt of the required antitrust and foreign direct investment approvals from the Ukrainian and Romanian authorities, have been fulfilled, the company’s press service noted.
