Japan’s Terra Drone Invests in Ukrainian Drone Developer WinnyLab

Japan’s Terra Drone has invested in Ukraine’s WinnyLab to develop and bring drone interceptor technologies to the global market, building on solutions tested in combat conditions

Japanese technology company Terra Drone Corporation has announced a new stage of cooperation with Ukraine’s defense sector, investing in WinnyLab LLC, a company developing drone interceptors. The investment is being made through Terra Inspectioneering, a subsidiary of Terra Drone, and is strategic in nature, meaning it is aimed not only at financial support but also at long-term technological and market cooperation.

This is not Terra Drone’s first experience in Ukraine. The company had previously invested in another unmanned systems developer, Amazing Drones. The new deal effectively continues this strategy, showing that the Japanese side is systematically expanding its presence in Ukraine’s defense technology industry, especially in the segment of drone interceptors, which are currently in high demand.

Terra Drone Chairman Toru Tokushige emphasized that the company sees strong potential in combining Ukrainian technologies tested in real combat conditions with its own global capabilities. The goal is not only to use these technologies locally, but also to bring them to international markets. According to him, this synergy will help distribute reliable security solutions and contribute to global stability.

Back in March, Terra Drone announced plans to scale its activities in Ukraine. In particular, the company intends to use the experience gained under wartime conditions to develop and implement new solutions in other countries. This applies not only to drone interceptors, but also to a broader range of unmanned systems.

As part of its previous cooperation with Amazing Drones, the company stated that it planned to accelerate the development and supply of various types of unmanned equipment. These include FPV drones, reconnaissance UAVs, and unmanned surface vessels. In this way, Terra Drone views Ukrainian companies as an important source of innovation across different segments of unmanned technologies.

Terra Drone Corporation is a large international company headquartered in Japan and is considered one of the leaders in unmanned technologies and Advanced Air Mobility. Its activities cover a wide range of areas, from surveying and infrastructure inspection to agritech and unmanned traffic management systems. The company’s solutions are used in energy, construction, oil and gas, chemicals, and agriculture.

Ukraine’s WinnyLab is a new defense technology company specializing in the development of unmanned aerial vehicles and autonomous solutions. According to YouControl, it was registered recently, in February 2026. The company’s CEO and beneficial owner is Olga Begun.

Overall, this investment reflects growing interest from international technology players in Ukrainian unmanned systems developments and confirms that Ukraine is becoming an important platform for the creation and testing of advanced defense technologies.
