This is the largest investment project in Europe by Bunge in agriculture, said the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The facility was projected to work with 4 agricultural products employing about 165 workers. Around 120 000 tons of grains can be stored in one time servicing cargos from the railways and trucks. The terminal has three vessel reloading machines. The complex consists of sunflower oil extraction plant and a handling complex. In 2014/2015 marketing year, the complex increased cargo transportation from 2.1 mln tons to 3.3mln tons. Additional 1mln tons could be handled thanks to the operations. The finish of further expansion project of Bunge operations in Ukraine is a signal of trust and an impetus to continue with reforms, believes the president Petro Poroshenko who visited Nikolayev. To remind, Bunge entered Ukrainian market in 2002 acquiring Cereol company. As of present, Bunge manages Suntrade company and Oleyna TM, along with elevators in Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovograd regions of Ukraine.
“Despite positive trends in economy and investment climate, we admit that investors still face many obstacles. For example, it concerns high port duties which make them uncompetitive comparing to other ports on the Black Sea. The other problem is a basic access to marine docking facilities which are considered as strategic facilities, and foreign investors have yet to be provided with the right to use them.” The president promised to solve the issue for investors together with the government of Ukraine, according to UNN news.
