Ukraine to Allocate Over UAH 1.75 Billion to 20 Healthcare Projects in Dnipropetrovsk Region

Dnipropetrovsk region will implement 20 healthcare investment projects in 2026, with more than UAH 1.75 billion allocated from state, local, and international funding sources

Dnipropetrovsk region is implementing 20 healthcare investment projects, with more than UAH 1.75 billion earmarked for financing in 2026. The announcement was made by Ukraine’s Minister of Health, Viktor Liashko, during a working visit to the region, where he inspected healthcare facilities in Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih.

Funding comes from several sources, including the European Union’s Ukraine Facility program, the national, regional, and local budgets, the Ukraine Recovery Programme supported by the European Investment Bank (EIB), and grants from international partners. The funds are being directed toward the construction of new medical facilities, hospital modernization, and the procurement of advanced medical equipment.

In Dnipro, construction of a new surgical building at the Regional Medical Center for Family Health is ongoing, with the project currently 80% complete. The ten-story facility, covering more than 10,000 square meters, is designed to expand specialized surgical care, particularly for children suffering from blast-related injuries and other severe medical conditions. The building will accommodate neurosurgery, neurology, traumatology and orthopedics, and emergency surgery departments with a total of 63 inpatient beds, as well as a 21-bed day surgery unit, operating rooms, and laboratories. More than UAH 568 million has been allocated to the project for 2026, including UAH 348.3 million in state funding and UAH 220 million from the regional budget. A protective shelter with a capacity of 535 people is also being constructed adjacent to the medical complex.

In Kryvyi Rih, the main building of City Clinical Hospital No. 2 is undergoing reconstruction. The total project cost exceeds UAH 1.8 billion, with UAH 483.7 million allocated for implementation in 2026. The reconstruction includes upgrades to the facade, roof, interior spaces, and engineering systems, incorporating energy-efficient solutions. Once completed, the facility is expected to feature a modern operating unit and intensive care department, while expanding emergency medical services and rehabilitation capacity. The project is financed through the state budget under the Ukraine Facility program.

Another major investment priority is equipping hospitals with modern medical technology. Between 2020 and 2026, healthcare institutions across Dnipropetrovsk region received medical equipment worth more than UAH 2.38 billion through state funding and support from international partners. Deliveries included 13 computed tomography (CT) scanners, six magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems, five angiography systems, 47 X-ray machines, 81 ultrasound systems, and 117 ambulances.

Preparations are also underway to install a linear accelerator for radiation therapy at the Kryvyi Rih Oncology Dispensary. A supply contract for the equipment was signed in October 2026, while UAH 50 million was allocated from the regional budget to prepare the facility for installation.

During his visit, Viktor Liashko also inspected the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination, which has experienced a significant increase in workload due to Russia’s full-scale invasion and the growing need to identify deceased individuals. To strengthen the institution’s capacity, regional authorities plan to establish an Identification Center. At the national level, Ukraine’s Ministry of Health continues to reform the forensic medical examination system. The draft state budget for 2027 provides for more than UAH 600 million in funding, including additional equipment for specialized forensic examination bureaus.

The healthcare investment projects in Dnipropetrovsk region are aimed at expanding surgical and emergency care, modernizing medical infrastructure, strengthening rehabilitation services, and enhancing the capacity to identify deceased individuals amid the ongoing war.
