Ukrainian Microlearning App Developer Headway Secures First-Ever Investment

Headway receives investment from Bullhound Capital, a venture fund known for backing Spotify, Slack, and Klarna

Headway, a Ukrainian microlearning app developer, has raised its first external investment from Bullhound Capital, according to a company press release.

As of April 2025, Headway Inc's suite of apps has been downloaded approximately 150 million times. The deal amount has not been disclosed. According to Forbes Ukraine, CEO Anton Pavlovskyi and other insiders declined to comment on the transaction.

This marks the company’s first external funding round. Headway was originally launched under IT group Genesis, with initial funding of under $5 million, as previously reported in 2021 by Vitalii Laptenok, partner at Flyer One Ventures.

The investment is the largest to date from Bullhound Capital VI, which has so far made eight investments. While the fund's contribution size remains confidential, it typically participates in larger funding rounds alongside other partners.

According to CEO Anton Pavlovskyi, the deal is part of a broader strategy to attract leading global institutional investors. The raised capital will be used to scale existing products, launch new ones, expand into global markets, invest in artificial intelligence, and grow the team.

Headway originated as a Genesis ecosystem startup with an app offering bite-sized book summaries. In 2021, it was joined by Impulse, an app initially developed independently, focusing on memory, attention, and concentration training. Less than a year ago, the company launched Nibble, a product offering short-form lessons in art, mathematics, finance, and more. Two additional apps are currently in development.
