Agricultural Astarta attracts USD 25mln loan from Dutch development bank

FMO provided the loan for the energy efficiency projects

Agricultural major Astarta attracted USD 25mln loan from the Dutch development bank FMO. The raised funds will be channeled into the energy efficiency projects at the sugar production facilities of the company. In particular, it relates to the re-equipment of the company’s sugar plants to provide higher productivity levels and energy efficiency.

Some of the funds will be spent for construction of a water treatment complex nearby industrial cluster of Astarta in Globin. There are sugar and soybean processing plants and a bioenergy integrated business there.

Astarta altogether with FMO carried out a technical feasibility study for the water treatment plant. As a result, it is expected that water consumption will reduce by an average of 50% at the cluster enterprises, if compound.

Agriculture holding Astarta includes 5 regional subdivisions: Poltavazernoproduct LLC, Dovzhenko Agrofirm LLC, Dobrobut LLC (all located in Poltava Region), Khmelnitsky (Vinnytsia Region) and Volochisk Agro LLC (Khmelnitsky region).

The holding specializes in sugar manufacturing, growing of grain crops and oilseeds, and production of meat and milk products.
