Ukrainian company Askania Energy and Chinese energy equipment manufacturer Risen Energy have agreed to jointly implement projects in Ukraine with a total capacity of up to 100 MW of solar generation and 200 MWh of energy storage systems.

The companies signed two cooperation memoranda on August 14 at Risen Energy’s manufacturing facility in China, according to Askania Energy’s press service.

Under the agreements, Risen Energy will supply equipment and technologies for solar power plants and energy storage systems. Askania Energy, part of the Askania Group, will be responsible for project development and implementation in Ukraine, engineering, equipment integration and local servicing.

The next stage will involve the preparation of specific projects in Ukraine. The companies also plan to develop local technical expertise and service infrastructure.

Combining solar generation with energy storage makes it possible to store generated electricity and use it during periods of peak demand or grid constraints. For Ukraine, such solutions are one of the key areas of decentralized generation development following large-scale Russian attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure.

“For Ukraine today, it is critically important not simply to restore energy infrastructure destroyed by Russian attacks, but to use the recovery process to build a more resilient and decentralized energy system,” said Yevhen Piatko, CEO and co-owner of Askania Energy.

According to him, cooperation with Risen Energy will provide access to the technological and manufacturing capabilities required to implement specific energy projects in Ukraine.

Risen Energy is a Chinese manufacturer of equipment for solar power generation and energy storage systems. The company operates in more than 90 countries and regions and has already supplied equipment for 12 solar projects in Ukraine, including the 323 MW Pokrovska Solar Power Plant.

Askania Group is a diversified Ukrainian holding company operating across 12 business segments. The group is owned by Valerii and Serhii Horban.

Its core activities include the import, production and distribution of food and beverages, rose cultivation, electricity and natural gas supply to businesses, logistics and warehousing, as well as tire supply and distribution.

In 2026, the group operates 12 diversified businesses. Askania reported turnover of UAH 15.9 billion in 2025 and employs around 3,000 people. The group ranked 80th in Forbes Ukraine’s ranking of the country’s largest private-sector employers.
