Danish NPP studies possibility of investments into solar power station in Chernobyl zone

Large areas of the exclusion zone near Chornobyl are objects of interests for foreign investments in solar power generation

Danish Nordic Power Partners (NPP) carried talks with the Ministry of Ecology of Ukraine on the feasibility study to erecting solar power station in the exclusion zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power station. The projected facility of the solar power plant stands at 100MW. Sunshine in the area stands at 1 800 - 1 900 hours a year. Hence, the exclusion zone is for for the solar farm projects, told Ostap Semereka the minister of ecology. The project may contribute to rehabilitation of the exclusion zone and bring economic and social benefits for Ukraine. At this, the execution of such projects gives positive signals for other investors who look for the large scale infrastructural projects. Our project has good investment perspectives and it can also positively impact the industry at large, told Esben Christensen the co-founder and director of Nordic Power Partners.
