Datagroup may be acquired by Kyivstar for $100 million

Kyivstar does not confirm rumors about the purchase of a fixed-line operator, but informed sources claim that the deal may take place

The head of the telecom group NEQSOL Holding (owned by Vodafone Ukraine) Vasil Latsanich also confirmed the presence in the market of talks about Kyivstar's interest in Datagroup. He believes that if the deal goes through, its price could reach $ 100 million.

Kyivstar refused to comment the situation about the takeover of Datagroup.

Vasil Latsanich is sure that such a purchase will mean the death of "real competition in the fixed Internet market." At the same time, the director of BigData UA Serhiy Boyko, who previously headed Volya, noted that Kyivstar will become No. 1 in each of the three segments - cellular communication, fixed Internet access and pay TV.

According to Anatoly Frolenkov, Managing Partner of E&C Group, Kyivstar's plans may make sense, since the mobile operator may need ground infrastructure to deploy 5G.

In December 2020, Datagroup acquired 100% of Internet and TV provider Volia.
