DowDuPont invests USD 5 million in sunflower seed production in Poltava region

The Ukrainian subsidiary of the American seed producer will launch a line for the production of sunflower seeds at its plant in the village of Stasi, Poltava region

DuPont Pioneer Ukraine, a subsidiary of one of the world's largest producers of seeds of agricultural plants DowDuPont (USA), will make USD 5mln investment in a production line of sunflower seeds at its plant in the village of Stasi, Poltava region. The new production will reach its full operational capacity until the end of the current year.

The plant is planned to produce 200-300 thousand tons of sunflower seeds in a season, told the head of seed production of the agricultural division of the company DowDuPont Pioneer in Europe Peter Shiposh.

Additionally, Turkish seeds will be brought here for further processing of dressing and packaging.

Sunflower seeds will be produced only for the Ukrainian market at the Stasi plant. As of present, the corn seeds produced at the plant are exported to Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary.

To note, DuPont Pioneer sells its products in more than 90 countries. The American manufacturer started its Kyiv office in 1998. At that time, the company worked on testing new hybrids of corn and sunflower seeds in Ukraine. In 2001, the company started Pioneer Nasinnia Ukraine and in 2010 the company launched a research center in the Kyiv region.
