The Vylkove urban territorial community in Odesa region plans to establish the Vylkove Eco-Industrial Park, which is expected to become one of the region’s key economic development centres. The project is included in the Development Strategy of the Vylkove Urban Territorial Community and envisages the creation of a diversified industrial cluster combining agricultural processing, shipbuilding, aquaculture, craft production and cooperation with research institutions, according to USI Online.
Under the strategy, one of the future industrial park’s main objectives will be to increase the added value of products manufactured within the community by developing processing facilities and attracting new enterprises. At the same time, a significant part of the Vylkove community will retain its agricultural specialisation.
The document also provides for the modernisation of the agricultural sector in response to climate change. In particular, the plans include adapting agriculture to new natural and climatic conditions, optimising crop rotation structures and gradually withdrawing low-productivity and degraded land from cultivation.
A separate area of development is linked to tourism and recreation. In the area surrounding Lake Sasyk, the strategy proposes creating an integrated land-use model combining fisheries, agricultural production, aquaculture, tourism and recreational services.
The community is also considering the development of sanatorium and resort infrastructure, wellness facilities and beach tourism in its coastal zone. At the same time, the strategy provides for preserving the environmental sustainability of the Danube Biosphere Reserve, where the use of natural resources must comply with strict conservation restrictions.
For the island territories along the Danube, an integrated development model has been proposed that would combine tourism with intensive agriculture. Priority areas include viticulture, vegetable production and horticulture.
The establishment of the eco-industrial park is expected to diversify the economy of the Vylkove community, stimulate the development of processing industries and small businesses, improve the region’s investment attractiveness and create new jobs by developing its industrial, agricultural and tourism potential.
