French SUEZ revealed interest for the program of waste-to-energy production developed by the State Agency of Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine. The electricity production from biogas plants has become a promising venture in Ukraine, after the regulator introduced the green tariff pegged to the euro currency standing at 12.4 Euro cents per kWh (kilowatt hour).
Waste disposals by land filling reaches 10 tons a year in Ukraine. It can produce 3.5mln Gcal of heat and 1.2bn kWh of electricity during a year. Ukraine possesses an outstanding capacity for the electricity production made of the municipal solid waste (MSW), according to Sergiy Savchuk the head of the energy related agency.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to come up with a financing scheme for the launching of waste-to-energy production units in Ukraine. At this, the state energy pledged to conceive a bunch of some feasible projects.
French SUEZ has been operating for more than 160 years in all parts of the world. The company specializes in effective management of the resources including waste-to-energy production. SUEZ processes 40tons of garbage a year.
