The construction of the third dryer at Bayer’s plant is expected to increase the company’s production capacity in Ukraine by 30%, with the vast majority of the product being exported to Europe.
The project was approved during the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine.
The company’s corn seed processing plant was built and opened in Pochuiky, Zhytomyr region, Ukraine, in 2018. This modern corn seed production plant is one of the largest seed plants in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, with an investment of €200 million and a plant capacity of over 750,000 seed units of corn per year.
The plant in Ukraine is operated by more than 100 permanent and approximately 250+ seasonal employees. With its seed plant, Bayer is one of the largest investors in the Zhytomyr region, with a tax share exceeding 25% of the local community budget.
Since the beginning of the war, the total amount of charitable assistance from Bayer in Ukraine is more than €15 million.
