Ihor Nikonov, owner of property development company KAN Development and co-founder of the A+ educational holding, has announced plans to establish a private higher education institution.
The project will move away from the traditional university model offering a broad range of subjects and instead focus on specialised education in four or five areas where the holding can provide a high standard of training in partnership with existing higher education institutions.
The project, first announced in 2025, has proved more complex to implement than initially expected. As a result, the holding’s management has decided to develop it in two parallel directions: establishing its own higher education institution and launching joint educational programmes with universities.
As part of this strategy, the A+ holding plans to integrate elements of higher education directly into the upper secondary school system.
In particular, the company has already signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Dobrobut medical clinic network to establish specialised medical classes. The curriculum, which will be taught by Dobrobut professionals, will fully correspond to the first-year subjects of a medical university programme.
Students who successfully complete the curriculum will be able to have the year of study recognised and enrol directly in the second year of relevant university programmes.
