KLO Fuel Station Network Invests in Agribusiness and Builds Grain Elevator in Vinnytsia Region

KLO, a fuel station network, is expanding into the agricultural sector by constructing a grain elevator in the Vinnytsia region, operating within the structure of KLO AGRO

The KLO fuel station network is expanding its operations into the agricultural sector, having built a grain elevator in the Vinnytsia region, which operates as part of KLO AGRO. The primary goal of the investment is to supply feed for the company’s own pig farming complex with 1,250 sows, as well as to control feed cost and quality.

According to Elevatorist.com, in addition to grain procurement and storage, the facility also produces oilseed meal and compound feed. Having its own elevator allows the company to purchase grain directly during the harvest season and reduce exposure to seasonal price fluctuations.

Currently, three phases of the elevator complex have been commissioned. The infrastructure includes three silos with a capacity of 5,000 tons each and five silos with a capacity of 1,000 tons each. Together with wet grain hoppers, the total storage capacity reaches approximately 21,000 tons. The company plans to expand capacity to 60,000 tons in the future.

At present, grain shipments are carried out by road transport, but the company is considering the construction of a railway connection to improve logistics efficiency.

The facility is equipped with machinery from the Ukrainian manufacturer Lubnymash, including bucket elevators, conveyors, silos, and grain dryers. The transport systems have a capacity of up to 100 tons per hour, enabling the elevator to handle up to 2,000 tons of dry grain per day, and around 900 tons per day when processing wet corn (24% moisture). The grain dryer operates on liquefied gas.

During the 2025 harvest season, the elevator handled approximately 9,000 tons of grain, including 500 tons of tolling grain from farmers. After processing, the grain was returned to its owners without any quality-related complaints. The company plans to gradually increase the share of tolling operations.

The elevator was designed as a universal facility capable of handling key grain and oilseed crops. Currently, it processes wheat, barley, corn, and soybeans, primarily to support the company’s own feed production.

Grain quality is monitored by a production and technology laboratory certified in accordance with DSTU ISO 10012 ahead of the 2025/26 season. Quality control is carried out at all stages — from grain intake to shipment or use in feed production.

Despite the high concentration of elevator capacity in the region, KLO AGRO expects to occupy its own niche. As noted by Executive Director Hanna Khalimonchuk, the company does not impose strict conditions on farmers regarding storage duration or mandatory grain sales.

“We do not impose requirements on farmers to store grain for a fixed number of months or to sell it exclusively to us. We can return the grain to the farmer as early as the next day after intake and drying,” she said.

The choice of the Vinnytsia region for the project is driven by the availability of a strong raw material base. The company had previously built a pig farming complex in the region, making the location of the elevator and feed production facility nearby a logical step in terms of logistics and vertical integration of agricultural operations.
