Kopiyka Strengthens Its Position in Odesa Through the Acquisition of the Gurman Mini-Market Chain

The Kopiyka grocery retail chain has acquired Odesa-based mini-market operator Gurman, strengthening its presence in the city’s central and tourist areas and expanding its total network to 127 stores

Kopiyka, a grocery retail chain primarily operating in southern Ukraine, announced in early March 2026 that it had acquired the Odesa-based mini-market chain Gurman. The deal was reported by the Retail Association of Ukraine. Gurman operates nine small-format stores.

According to Kopiyka Director Dmytro Bohdanov, the transaction will allow the company to strengthen its position in Odesa’s central and tourist-heavy districts, while also expanding its geographic footprint. Gurman’s stores are located mainly in some of the city’s most popular areas, including Derybasivska Street and the Arkadia Alley district.

The total retail space of the acquired chain is approximately 1,500 square meters. Following the transaction, Kopiyka has already begun a phased integration process, with the stores to be gradually rebranded under the new owner’s banner.

Once the integration process is completed, Kopiyka’s total store count will reach 127, including seasonal retail outlets and one store in Kherson.

Gurman operated in the mini-market format, focusing on convenience purchases and easily accessible locations for customers. The company employed 72 people.

According to YouControl, Kopiyka’s founders are Oleksandr Sharhorodskyi and Mykhailo Aizykovych. In 2025, the company reported stronger financial results, with net revenue rising 19.5% to UAH 4.3 billion and net profit increasing 31.6% to UAH 24.2 million. Most of the chain’s stores are concentrated in Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.
