KUKE insures Polish production complex in Ukraine for $45 million for the first time

The Polish Export Credit Insurance Corporation (KUKE) has insured the production complex of a Polish company in Ukraine for the first time for $45 million.

Deputy CEO of KUKE Katarzyna Kowalska noted that this operation is the first case of insuring Polish investments in Ukraine since the beginning of a full-scale war. It is also the first ever reinsurance operation concluded with a multilateral financial institution.

At the same time, this cooperation is the first between KUKE and the World Bank Group's investment guarantee agency MIGA after the signing of a memorandum of understanding at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin with the participation of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

"This agreement is an important signal for potential investors that investing in the Ukrainian economy is possible and necessary right now. After all, we have both investor support tools and an extensive infrastructure for insuring against war risks," said First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.

The next step will be a comprehensive nationwide system of insuring against war risks, which will help to obtain affordable insurance not only for the private sector, but also for the population.
