Kyiv city approves USD 2bn for construction of larger ring road

The construction works will commence in 2018

Kyiv city will start construction of a larger ring road worth USD 2bn, told Vitaliy Klitschko the city mayor. The circumferential highway is aimed at improving traffic issues of the city to sending heavy trucks away the city outskirts and the city center too. The traffic load will decrease by 20-30% according to a feasibility study.

The loop will be 200km long running through Vorzel, Glevakha, Ukrainka, Boryspil, Brovary, and Stari Petrivci.

At this, three bridges will be built in the frames of the project. The northern side bridge will cross the Dnieper river. The bridge will be 8.2km long. It cost stands at UAH 7.8bn (at USD 290mln). The southern side bridge will cross the Dniper river too being 4.5km long and it will cost UAH 8.65bn. The third bridge will be 1.6km long over Desna river for the estimated expense of UAH 1.5bn.

Notably, World Bank helped to develop the city traffic flow charts, told the Kyiv city mayor.
