Large world sugar producer to expand its land bank in Ukraine

ED & F Man mulls increasing its land bank in Ukraine from 13 to 30 thousand hectares

Sugar producer ED & F Man plans to increase its land bank up to 30 000ha in Ukraine, told Igor Buchatskiy the CEO of the company. As of present, the company manages land plots in Ukraine amounting to 13 000ha of which 8 000ha is irrigated land area. To note, the world sugar major ED & F Man launched USD 5mln irrigation system over 1 000ha land area in Kherson region of Ukraine. At this, the company plans to allocate USD 60mln worth of investments into irrigation complex over 20 000ha of land in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. The history of ED & F Man dates back to 1783. It was created by James Man in London. Since then, the company has developed and become the largest supplier of food, sugar, spices, animal feed, tropical oils, rubber, biofuels and coffee. The company has a network of offices and agencies in more than 50 countries. ED & F Man entered Ukrainian market in 2007. It started with  Zaselsky sugar factory (Mykolayiv region) with a production capacity of 50 000tons a year. ED & F Man's clients in Ukraine are Coca-Cola, Sandora, Conti, Rosinka and Pervomaysky milk and canning plant.
