"A draft memorandum on cooperation between the Saranchukiv village council and Naftogaz of Ukraine with the aim of implementing and developing projects for the construction of onshore wind power plants with an estimated installed capacity of up to 100 MW on the territory of the village council has been prepared," the message said.
Prospects for the construction of solar power plants and gas extraction on the territory of the community were also discussed.
The village of Saranchuky of the former Berezhan district is located in the west of the Ternopil region.
NAEC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" plans to ensure a "green" transition of business by 2050. The company began to develop new areas of activity in 2021, creating SE Naftogaz Bioenergy, SE Naftogaz-Energoservice, and the Naftogaz Energy Efficiency Solutions Center.
By 2030, Naftogaz must ensure energy independence through increased production, diversified demand for gas transit and the share of green businesses in the portfolio. In 2050, the company plans to become a supplier of sustainable energy with minimal impact on the environment and climate.
Naftogaz is already conducting design work to assess the prospects for the construction of the Maryivka wind power plant in Mykolaiv Oblast, as well as two facilities in Odesa Oblast.
The national action plan for renewable energy in Ukraine for the period up to 2030 envisages an increase in the installed capacity of wind power plants to 6.2 GW. By this time, the first marine (offshore) wind power plants should appear in Ukraine.
According to Ukrenergo, Ukraine needs 4 GW of new wind power plants and 3.8 GW of solar power plants.
