Initially, the TAS Group planned to quickly expand its business and join the ranks of the leaders in the pharmacy market. The group managed to expand the network to 143 sites. According to the director of one of the pharmacy chains, the investor lost interest in this business and the company began to close unprofitable facilities.
Alexey Rashchupkin, managing partner of the investment company Atlas Advisors, also adds that due to competition in this market, profitability dropped to 2%, and it became unprofitable for some companies to do business, while for example commercial real estate may bring in five to ten times more.
After the restructuring, the TAS network was reduced to 100 pharmacies, mainly in Kyiv and the region, and in 2020 it was decided to sell this business.
The “NV Business” claims that negotiations were held with the “Epicenter” group of companies, which also opens its own pharmacies. In addition, the asset was offered to the “Dobryi Den” pharmacy chain.
However, as a result, Oleg Tokarev's Med-Service chain (Dnipro) became the new owner of TAS pharmacies. This is confirmed by information about TAS pharmacies on the Med-Service website. Although neither Med-Service nor TAS commented on the deal, which, according to estimates, could be $ 5-6 million.
