Kurs Orbital, co-founded in 2021 by Volodymyr Usov, the former Chairman of the State Space Agency of Ukraine who currently serves as CEO, specializes in the development of rendezvous and docking technology through its ARCap module. This module enables satellite relocation and inspection, de-orbiting, and space debris removal.
“Our module does not require any hardware to be pre-installed on the customer spacecraft, as it can handle any kind of non-cooperative targets, such as fuel-depleted or faulty satellites or space debris. We aim to provide the market with a system that is truly performant and flexible, that allows the servicing spacecraft to be fully autonomous, both in space operations and from ground control,” Volodymyr Usov explained to TechCrunch.
The current seed round was led by Warsaw-based fund OTB Ventures, which also has spacetech startups like German ATMOS mos Space Cargo and Swiss ClearSpace in its portfolio. Other investors in Kurs Orbital include Credo Ventures, Galaxia, In-Q-Tel, and Inovo.vc.
With the fresh investment, the startup plans to expand its 11-person team within offices in Turin, Italy, and Kyiv, Ukraine. Additionally, it aims to finalize the first ARCap module in the fourth quarter of 2025.
