Ukrainian Agricultural Holding Invests in a Feed Mill and a 3 MW Biogas Plant

Agroprodservice is investing in the construction of a 3 MW biogas plant and a new feed mill in order to strengthen energy independence and increase product exports

Agricultural holding Agroprodservice plans to implement several investment projects aimed at expanding production and strengthening the resilience of its business. In particular, the company intends to build a new feed mill as well as a biogas plant with a capacity of 3 MW. The main purpose of these investments is to improve the company’s energy independence and expand its export potential. These plans were announced by the company’s Commercial Director, Taras Baran, during an industry conference dedicated to the soybean market.

The new feed mill will include its own soybean processing line. Its launch will allow the company to optimize production processes: the facility will fully cover the holding’s internal feed demand for pig farming and cattle breeding. At the same time, the existing soybean processing plant, which currently processes around 2,500 tonnes of output per month, will be able to focus exclusively on products for export and the external market. This approach aligns with the company’s strategy based on vertical integration and value creation at every stage of production.

At present, Agroprodservice processes approximately 30,000 tonnes of soybeans annually, producing oil and soybean meal. The company already holds non-GMO certification, which allows it to sell products at a premium in European markets, including Germany and the Czech Republic.

The agricultural holding itself was founded in 1999 and operates in Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. It manages between 45,000 and 50,000 hectares of agricultural land, as well as grain elevator capacity for storing up to 200,000 tonnes of grain. In addition, the company owns seed and feed production facilities. Agroprodservice ranks among the five largest pork producers in Ukraine, with a herd of around 60,000 pigs. The company also keeps around 16,000 head of cattle and approximately 600,000 poultry.

In addition, in 2025 the company invested UAH 45 million in launching a food production plant under the Babusia Marusia brand, located within the Western Ukrainian Industrial Hub industrial park. The facility specializes in vegetable preserves, pickled products, and semi-finished foods, with a design capacity of up to 650 tonnes of output per year. Other units of the holding also operate at the same site, including Nasha Ptytsia, which processes chicken meat, as well as Ternopil Meat Processing Plant.

According to data from the YouControl analytical system, the ultimate beneficial owners of Agroprodservice are Tetiana Chaikivska, who owns 70% of the company, and Andrii Baran, who holds 30%. Previously, until 2020, the business was owned by its founder Ivan Chaikivskyi, who currently serves as Secretary of the Agrarian Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
