Ukrainian-Canadian project invests CAD 19mln in fruits and vegs producers

The project is a part of the financial assistance grant for the development of agriculture in the Southern parts of Ukraine

The Ukrainian-Canadian project of the support of agriculture in Southern parts of Ukraine allocated CAD 19mln for the development of SME fruits and vegs producers. The project used nearly a half of the channeled facility, according to Dmitriy Nikolaev a manager at the Ukrainian Horticulture Development Project (UHDP). The project foresees the full absorption of the amount until 2021 by the SME engaged in agriculture.

The project was initiated in 2014, when the full-time operations of the office started in 2016. During those years, the UHDP was engaged in the preparative undertakings being in search of the partners for the project in the designated region.

In 2016, the office financed two projects and 4 projects a year later. In the current year, the UHDP plans to procure two or three projects additionally that have the value added constituent.

The UHDP grants 30% of an investment project amount which total value is not less than USD 200 000 worth. The projects time span has to be not more than a year or a year and a half.

UHBDP operates in the Southern Oblasts of Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolayiv and Odessa and will seek to benefit 44,000 small and medium horticulture farmers and small enterprises.
