Ukrenergo to implement Smart Grid worth USD 48.5mln of investments

The domestic electricity major plans to start using Smart Grid technology in 2018

The project is the Second Power Transmission Project in Ukraine of World Bank, voiced the company representative at 7th European-Ukrainian Energy Day. The project implementation will be a starting point to future technological innovations. It will serve to improve reliability of Ukrainian power transmission system. Ukrenergo also plans to launch a system of demand response and power interchange system of vehicle-to-grid, V2G. The V2G system suggests that electric cars may plug into power distribution grids and give excess power in reverse. Ukrenergo plans to launch a pilot project upon its private electric cars fleet. The company will buy electric cars to test the V2G system and offer solution for the public.
