The terms and financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The goal of the deal is to combine businesses and teams to develop IaaS, PaaS, CaaS, and XaaS products for cloud service providers, hosting service providers, managed service providers, and their SMB customers.
The companies made the deal after a 10-year partnership. Ruslan Synytsky, founder and CEO of Jelastic, will become CTO at Virtuozzo. For example, Virtuozzo containers have been used in Jelastic’s PaaS solution for virtualization since the beginning of the platform’s development.
With the help of this deal, Virtuozzo plans to strengthen its position in the market of multi-cloud and PaaS services. In 2022, the PaaS market is estimated to be worth approximately $71 billion (according to Gartner research).
Ruslan Synytsky came up with the idea of Jelastic back in 2008, communicating in comments to his articles on Habr [Editor’s note: Previously, Habrahabr, a website for tech professionals]. Initially, the service was supposed to solve problems like the rapid creation of dynamic single-page applications like Gmail.
