The crisis is not an obstacle for Ukrainian e-commerce start-ups. Ukrainian online store and marketplace Skidka.ua this week closed a deal and attracted $250K from a private investor, who heads another e-commerce business. Investments allowed to the investor to get 10% of the company, said the founder of the project, Alexander Ten.
The transaction took place a few months ago, legal registration was completed only recently. About $100 thousand of the amount has already been directed to the product development and its promotion. The project started in 2011, and its development has been invested about $500 thousand. of reinvested earnings. Alexander Ten noted that average costs for the development, marketing and design are about $15-20 thousand per month.
Before expanding to the foreign markets and attract foreign investors current startup founders have to make another necessary step is to confirm earlier funds.
Skidka.ua was founded as an online store selling equipment, but now is developing as promotional marketplace, where Ukrainian and foreign online shops would able to sell their goods across the CPS-network Admitad and SalesDoubler. The platform will start from a referral program (where customers would be able to earn on friends recommendations).
At the moment about startup has 200 thousand monthly users and approximately 100 orders per day. According to Alexander Ten, Skidka.ua entered the TOP-10 online shops in Ukraine by the amount of turnover.
