The Pan Kurchak agro-industrial group plans to build a biomethane plant with a total capacity of more than 7 million cubic meters per year. The announcement was made by Serhii Horlach, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, in an interview with Nashe Ptakhivnytstvo magazine.
According to Horlach, the decision to implement the project is based on the company’s existing raw material base — primarily poultry manure and other types of organic waste. The use of in-house feedstock will enable efficient processing of by-products from poultry farming while simultaneously producing biomethane as a renewable energy source.
Horlach noted that the construction of the biomethane plant forms part of the group’s broader development strategy. The company plans further modernization of its production facilities, expansion of its broiler stock, diversification of higher value-added products, and active entry into new export markets. In addition, Pan Kurchak intends to invest in workforce development, digital solutions, and sustainability projects to ensure long-term competitiveness and business stability.
According to the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, as of the end of 2025, biomethane facilities with a combined annual capacity of 52 million cubic meters are already operating in the country. In particular, Hals Agro in the Chernihiv region and the VITAGRO group in the Khmelnytskyi region each produce 3 million cubic meters of biomethane annually, with injection into gas distribution networks. UM Liquid Gas in the Vinnytsia region has a capacity of 11 million cubic meters per year and operates under the Bio LNG model. MHP operates two facilities: one in the Vinnytsia region with a capacity of 24 million cubic meters per year connected via Bio LNG, and another in the Dnipropetrovsk region with a capacity of 11 million cubic meters per year connected to the gas distribution network.
Thus, the new Pan Kurchak project will strengthen the company’s position in the bioenergy sector and contribute to the development of Ukraine’s biomethane market.
