Akhmetov’s SCM-Backed Levada Cargo Acquires Stake in Eurobridge Terminal in Zakarpattia

Levada Cargo, part of the Lemtrans transport and logistics group within Rinat Akhmetov’s SCM, has acquired a minority stake in the Eurobridge intermodal terminal in Ukraine’s Zakarpattia Region

Levada Cargo, part of the Lemtrans transport and logistics group within Rinat Akhmetov’s SCM, has completed the acquisition of a minority stake in Eurobridge Intermodal Terminal, an intermodal logistics facility located in the village of Batiovo, Zakarpattia Region. The company announced the transaction on 29 July.

German logistics operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) remains the terminal’s majority shareholder. The parties have not disclosed the size of the acquired stake, the investment amount, or other financial terms of the transaction.

HHLA said that bringing in a Ukrainian partner would strengthen Eurobridge’s position as a key logistics hub in the region. Philip Sweens, Managing Director of HHLA International GmbH, stated that cooperation with Levada Cargo would support the development of transport links between Ukraine and European countries, expand HHLA’s network, and create new opportunities for providing integrated logistics services.

Volodymyr Demenko, CEO of Levada Cargo, described the transaction as an important milestone in the development of the company’s terminal network. According to him, the investment will improve the flexibility, efficiency, and reliability of transportation services for customers in both the Ukrainian domestic market and international routes. Levada Cargo currently operates its own Vinnytsia container terminal and also participates in container terminal development projects in Fastiv and Mostyska.

Eurobridge Intermodal Terminal is located close to the Chop and Solovka international border crossing points, which connect Ukraine with Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania. One of the facility’s key advantages is simultaneous access to the European-standard 1,435 mm railway gauge and the Ukrainian broad-gauge 1,520 mm network, making the terminal an important link in organising multimodal transportation between Ukraine and EU countries.

The terminal’s development has continued since August 2025, when the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine authorised Germany’s HHLA to acquire Eurobridge Intermodal Terminal LLC and become its majority owner.

Levada Cargo was established in 2012 and is part of the Lemtrans group, which belongs to the SCM investment group. The company specialises in multimodal rail transportation across Ukraine and the European Union.

In 2025, the Lemtrans group transported more than 16.2 million tonnes of cargo by rail, compared with 15.9 million tonnes a year earlier.

The company is also continuing to expand its own terminal infrastructure. In September 2025, Lemtrans and Rail Trans Investment completed the first stage of a container terminal development project in Fastiv. Approximately USD 7 million was invested in the initial phase, enabling the construction of two railway tracks and a container yard with capacity of up to 1,350 TEU. The project subsequently provides for increasing the terminal’s throughput capacity to 55,000 TEU per year.

In addition, in December 2025, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine authorised Yehor Hrebennikov, a co-owner of the TransInvestService group and a partner of Lemtrans in the Mostyska terminal since May 2025, to acquire a stake in Container Terminal Fastiv LLC. The transaction marked another stage in the consolidation of the company’s logistics assets.
